British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson arrives in Islamabad on official visit.

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for a two-day official visit.

The visiting dignitary was received by senior foreign office officials upon arrival, Radio Pakistan reported.

Johnson is expected to hold talks with Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz. According to reports, the two will discuss ways and means to enhance bilateral relations in diverse fields. Further, regional situation and international issues of mutual interest will also come under discussion.

During his visit, the British foreign secretary is also expected to call on President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

In May last year, Johnson’s wife expressed the desire to make a trip to Pakistan – her ancestral land. In an interview to a private news channel, Johnson said that he will be visiting Pakistan soon after the elections are over.

Senior Foreign Office officials received the visiting dignitary on arrival.

British Foreign Secretary will meet Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz to hold delegation-level talks.

Both the sides will discuss the ways and means to enhance bilateral relations in diverse fields.

They will also exchange views on regional situation and international issues of mutual interest.

During his visit, Boris Johnson is also expected to call on President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The British Foreign Secretary will meet with Pakistan’s political leaders during his visit. He is also expected to meet with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.


Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali was in the UK earlier this month where he met with Boris Johnson. During the meeting the two ministers had reiterated their commitment to work hand in hand for promoting peace in the region and consolidating Pakistan-UK relations and taking them to a higher level.
