Pakistan: Funeral of Respected ‘Junaid Jamshed’ held in Karachi.

Junaid Jamshed Khan جنید جمشید was a Pakistani preacher and televangelist, recording artist, television personality, fashion designer, occasional actor, singer-songwriter.

Maulana Tariq Jameel led the funeral prayers for Junaid Jamshed at Moin Khan Academy in Karachi on Thursday (Today).


“I cannot believe that Junaid is no longer with us,” said Maulana Tariq Jameel.

Junaid was travelling from Chitral to Islamabad in flight PK-661 when the aircraft crashed near Abbottabad, killing all 48 people on board on December 7.

The funeral prayer starts at 2:00 pm while his burial will be done at Darul  Uloom in Korangi, Karachi.

Law enforcement officials have been heavily deployed to the surrounding areas in DHA’s Phase-VIII for security purposes.

Junaid’s body was identified by forensic experts through dental history and face x-ray on Monday.

According to local media reports, senior navy and air force officers are attending the funeral.

The body of Jamshed’s wife, Nayha, who also died in the air crash was transported to Lahore for funeral prayers.

According to the airline, the plane was an ATR-42 turboprop aircraft, which lost contact with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Islamabad’s Benazir International Airport en route from Chitral.

She will be laid to rest at Lahore’s Cavalry Ground graveyard, according to television reports.

Earlier, Junaid Jamshed’s body was taken to Karachi on C-130 while his funeral prayer was offered at Nur Khan Airbase which was also attended by the air chief of Pakistan.

Junaid Jamshed was also given the guard of honour at the base.

On December 7, Junaid Jamshed was martyred in Pakistan Airlines International (PIA) PK-661 flight crash that killed 46 other people as well.
