Pakistan: General Zubair Mahmood Hayat Is Pakistan’s New CJCSC
Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat took over as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) on Monday from the outgoing chairman General Rashad Mehmood during an official ceremony at the joint staff headquarters in Rawalpindi.

According to the media reports, General Hayat was presented
with a guard of honour at a ceremony attended by all chiefs of staff, including
outgoing Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and the incoming Army Chief
Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa were also present on the occasion.
Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and Chief of Naval Staff
Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah also attended the ceremony.
The newly-appointed CJCSC Lt-Gen Hayat was previously
responsible for the safety and security of the country’s nuclear programme.
Newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar
Javed Bajwa will take over the charge of Pakistan Army tomorrow.
Gen Hayat, who has become the 17th CJCSC of Pakistan, was
presented with a guard of honour at a ceremony attended by all chiefs of staff,
including outgoing army chief Gen Raheel Sharif. Incoming army chief Gen Qamar
Javad Bajwa was also present on the occasion.
Theoretically, the CJCSC has to be the senior-most four-star
officer from any of the three services — army, navy and air force.
Profile of Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat:
The new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee,
General Zubair Mahmood Hayat was commissioned in Artillery Regiment on October
24, 1980. He is a graduate of Fort Sill Oklohoma, US, Command and Staff College
Camberlay United Kingdom and National Defence Univesity, Islamabad.
He has wide experience of command, staff and instructional
appointments. He has commanded an artillery regiment, mechanized division
artillery, an infantry brigade and an infantry division.
He has been adjutant at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA),
Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade, Army and Air adviser at Pakistan embassy
in UK. He has also been Chief of Staff of a strike Corps, private secretary to
COAS and Director General Staff Studies Directorate at GHQ, Rawalpindi.
He had also held the position of Director General Strategic
Plan Division (SPD). Besides, he has commanded 31 Corps Bahawalpur and is
presently Chief of General Staff at GHQ.
